The 3 December of each year is celebrated throughout Europe, the International Day the disabled, sponsored by the European Commission in collaboration with the European Disability Forum, an organization that our continent is almost 40 million disabled.
This year I want to emphasize only one aspect, in my opinion, however, absolutely fundamental, concerning the category: the amount of the monthly disability support.
I do not know how they behave in other European countries, so I just report what happens in Italy.
The check was introduced by Law 118 of 1971 and it was for the disabled civilians without income and recognized at least 67% disabled. Since over time the cost for the state grew, it was considered to have to reduce a disadvantage. With the Legislative Decree 509 of 1988, in fact, the percentage of disability is entitled to the minimum was raised to 74% and it was also decided that after 65 years you can not afford to become disabled and then, after passing that threshold, you can not even apply.
But this is nothing. Because what really cries out for vengeance is the amount of the check. You know how Italy

So, before you make a lot of speeches and conferences and talks on various solidarity, integration, dignity and a lot of good things about the darkened disabled or handicapped, we do so that a state like ours, which is defined social and solidarity, put these people at least in terms of survival.
